The MSC Bonneville in Burnt Sienna is built from 1.3 mm full-grain cowhide, produced using a semi-vegetable-tanned process. The leather begins with a chrome tan for durability, then is re-tanned using vegetable extracts to introduce structure, a drier hand, and a more natural response to wear.
The leather is built on a warm brown base with subtle red undertones, which become slightly more visible in high-stress areas and along the edges. This gives the finish depth without relying on heavy contrast or aggressive break-through.
Finished with an aniline dye, the surface remains open enough to showcase the full-grain beneath. Oils and waxes are worked into the hide to create a mild pull-up effect and natural tonal movement. As these waxes migrate through handling, compression, and wear, lighter and darker areas may appear across the surface, with the effect slightly more pronounced in certain areas of the hide.
This natural variation should not be confused with uneven dye. The colour is consistent within the leather; the visible highs and lows result from the movement and concentration of its oils and waxes. These variations will continue to shift and gradually blend as the jacket is handled and worn.
A light topcoat is applied to stabilize the finish, improving colour fastness while reducing transfer. This keeps the leather wearable from day one while still allowing its tonal character to evolve gradually with use.
The body is fully lined in sage green cotton twill, offering a clean, understated contrast to the exterior.
The front closure features a Talon 10 mm main zipper with an arrowhead leather pull tab. The zipper begins slightly above the bottom hem to reduce stacking and distortion at the waistband.
The Bonneville features a low-profile collar with a centre-back seam and shortened points, designed to sit cleanly whether worn up or down.
Across the back, a bi-swing action system with expansion pleats provides mobility through the shoulders. This is anchored by a fixed half-belt, side buckle adjusters for hem suppression, a rear V-yoke, and a defined kidney-panel seam.
Additional construction details include angled hand-warmer pockets, a YKK zippered chest pocket with chain pull, dual underarm ventilation grommets, snap-adjustable cuffs with branded hardware, and leather adjustment tabs with solid metal buckles.
Built to break in gradually, the Bonneville Burnt Sienna develops a natural patina over time. Its mild pull-up effect creates visible but generally restrained highs and lows, allowing each jacket to develop its own character without the dramatic contrast associated with more aggressive pull-up leathers.
Each jacket is designed in Toronto and built in our own dedicated workshop in Pakistan. We oversee every step from pattern drafting to leather selection to final inspection. Every jacket is individually photographed, measured, and quality-checked before leaving the shop. We produce in small batches using full-grain leathers, custom hardware, and offer complimentary custom sizing on all builds.
